Salon 123 shortlisted for the Hair & Beauty Community Awards

Salon 123 Hair and Beauty in Herne Bay have been invited to attend the Houses of Parliament in London

Salon 123 has been shortlisted for the first ever Hair & Beauty Community Awards run by the National Hairdressers Federation and the National Beauty Federation (NHF/NBF). The awards were launched in 2019 to recognise and promote the fantastic work hair salons, barbershops and beauty salons do to support their local communities.

On Wednesday 1 May 2019, Sally and Philip Moore from Salon 123 Hair and Beauty will attend a reception at the Houses of Parliament where the winners will be revealed. Ministers and MPs will also be at the reception to learn more about the hair and beauty sector and their contribution to high streets up and down the country.

Sally Moore, Partner and Hair Stylist at Salon 123 entered the NHF/NBF’s Hair & Beauty Community Awards, which had two categories: fundraising and community impact.  Sally comments: “Since opening the Salon in 2015 we have been committed to supporting the community whenever we can. We have held a number of fundraising events as well as linking up with the local branch of Macmillan.

Our Staff engage with customers in an open way and if appropriate can start some difficult conversations regarding the awareness and benefits of early diagnosis and treatment. To complement this, towards the end of 2018, we decided to go one stage further and raise some money for CoppaFeel, a charity which encourages young people to check their bodies for early signs of breast cancer.

The girls in the salon, along with some customers and colleagues from other businesses got together and we produced a “calendar girls” type calendar. This was supported by other businesses in Herne Bay, including The Studio (Printers), Gardenia Lingerie and Emma Lou Wig Design as well as local Tropic Skincare ambassadors. With the support of these businesses, as well as L’Oreal Professional, we were able to produce the calendar for free which meant that the money from the sales all went to our chosen charity CoppaFeel.

To date we have raised over £600 which we will be presenting to CoppaFeel in May. We have also been able to support the Herne Bay Christmas Lights appeal and Buy in the Bay Campaign by contributing at planning meetings and fundraising events wherever possible”.
